Kicking it old school. :) I recorded this video back in April before I got Rock Band.(But I've had the game since it came out in 2004.)

This song is I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness, played on Karaoke Revolution 2 for the PS2, expert difficulty setting.

=== Info about Karaoke Revolution Games ===

Q: It looks like Rock Band! Huh?
A: The Karaoke Revolution games were Harmonix's first music games with vocal judging, and many of the same gameplay mechanics went into Rock Band. There are even Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert difficulties like in Rock Band.

Q: How is Karaoke Revolution judged?
A: In Karaoke Revolution you have to fill the meter that sits on top of the chart. On Easy, the meter is very short, but it gets longer as you increase difficulty - on Expert, it's very long as you can see from the video. You don't have to fill it entirely, but you do have to get fairly close. The maximum rating you can get on a phrase is "GREAT!" (In Rock Band, the max rating you can get on a phrase is "AWESOME!")

Q: How is Karaoke Revolution scored?
A: Like Rock Band, you can build up to effectively a 4x combo (which makes a sparkly sound and effect happen). The maximum score you can get on any song is 50000 points. So for however many phrases there are in the song, they adjust the values of each phrase with the max combo so that it always adds up to 50000. Exceptions are the first two Karaoke Revolution games, where the game designers apparently couldn't do math properly, so you end up with lots of songs with max scores hovering around 48000 to 52000 points. :D

Q: Any other differences between Karaoke Revolution and Rock Band vocals?
A: In Karaoke Revolution, any spoken ("talky") parts are completely optional, are not judged, and don't contribute to the score at all! Also, to be honest I find the judging to be a lot harder in Karaoke Revolution than in Rock Band! (With the exception of American Idol Encore, which Harmonix was not involved in.) In Rock Band it's possible (though challenging) to get 100% on every song while actually singing the lyrics - in Karaoke Revolution, singing the lyrics in Expert makes it nearly impossible to get 100% on most songs, at least in my experience. And since the judging is harder, I find I have to sing even more robotically in Karaoke Revolution than I do in Rock Band. :P
