Its good to hear a version of something other than someone trying to copy eric clapton's version (not that there is anything wrong with his). gotta love the blues being sung the way that it's meant to be sung.

I think this the best version I've heard............After Bessie Smith

Just plain old "feels oh so good music"! Thank, Madcat.

I saw an introductory to harmonica video of yours and it looked as if it was from the 80's and I assumed you were possibly dead. I just got the video today and I found you on youtube under "harmonica" thinking you possibly wouldn't have a youtube account and YOU DO! But was was most amazing was how great you sound vocally. I think that sets this cover over the edge. You're amazing sir!

cheers!!
I don't care what key you play... One of my favorite songs, and now I have a new favorite rendition of it... Any chance of a Sky King reunion?

A Sky King reunion would be big fun, but the only member of Sky King I see on a regular basis is Chris Brubeck.

Hey, Madcat! Very impressive performance, mainly considering the 12th position crossharp! Why on earth did you choose that D harp? I can think of three ways of playing the tune on Lee Oskar harps that are infinitely simpler than bending just about every key note in the melody: (a) the obvious C diatonic in 2nd position, with its tricky overblow on the +7th; (b) the delightful G melody maker which eliminates that; and (c) the nearly equivalent E natural minor. Just curious. Blow on, dude!

The main reason I used a D harmonica on this tune is I like the way it sounds. Also, I try to avoid over-blows, because I don't play them well. And I primarily use standard tuned harps rather than special tuned harps. So on this tune the melody could be played in 12th position without over-blows.

Did you drill a hole through the paper clip to attach it to the stand?
Is the harp mic'd through the clip or just the main mic in front of you?
Thanks!

I cut a hole through the binder clip, and the microphone is mounted in the hole.
