As a request from my mate Andy, Mike played Radioheads Paranoid Android. This was at Mikes "UK Tour 2008" which consisted of the one hastily put together show with Dave Gregory at Riffs Bar, near Swindon on 23 October.

  • I tried to respond to all you Paranoid Android experts but I couldn't in so few words without being rude

  • burk...

  • Sorry I don't understand what you are trying to say?

  • Now linked from Mikes web site. I only wish my camera work was OK.

Forgot to say "This is not an official MK/BFD product"

  • Zappa and Radiohead, this guy is the spirit of rock

  • Personally, I think this is an impressive performance. There's so many dynamic fluctuations and sections to keep straight, not to mention delivering the lyrics. He would get points in my book just for getting through it, but he doesn't just do that-- he delivers with energy, flair, and balls as well.

  • not bad really

  • MK - consummate as ever.

  • All I know is, on top of his prog rock stuff (which is pretty good from what I've heard) this guy tours with Dethklok, a melodic deathmetal band, and puts kids a third his age in their place. He does rythym, some lead solos, and even the stacatto, growling vocals. I'm convinced he's more a musican, mastering the nuances and technicalities of the system in whole, rather than simply a guitarist or a vocalist playing into a specific genre, which is something that contemporary music is missing.

  • no doubt, most musicians would steer away from paranoid android, and yes I strongly doubt he ever practice that song. Saw this guy doing a mostly acoustic set with brian beller last night and it was amazing.

  • You can't honestly think that's good...

  • What part of spontaneously generating all the major aspects of the recorded version in a live solo performance don't you get? I understand this a classic song and many people probably can't make the leap from their mental recording of the album version. Keneally isn't a virtuoso vocalist (nor is Yorke, for that matter). But that isn't even remotely the point here.

  • good try....:)
