Paul Morley, made a career commenting on Factory. Tried to be part of it with The Negatives in the late 70's but failed. Biggest "hanger-on" ever. Gretton was right....full of shit. Listening to Gretton, the bloke who played him in 24 hr Party People did an amazing job

Rob Gretton, legend. absolute nutter

after much consideration i think morley and wilson really grasp the finer points of joy division/ian curtis, and gretton and erasmus are pretty basic (and very lucky) people
-
@canuck21 ian curtis biographies? where are they then.
-
I love JD, but Atmosphere was not the end of pop.
-
Paul Morley: CUNT.

I didn't realize until I watched this how good Paddy Considine's performance was in 24 hour party people he had the voice mannerism and look down. It really is amazing.

MORLEY. WHAT A DICK.

IT'S NOT "POP" MORLEY, YOU TOSSPIECE!!
And Ian Curtis alone would be what? Pompous as they may be, they were the music behind the vocal and the lyrics. Without Sumner, Hook and Morris, there would be no Joy Division. Don't think that any other musicians would have given the same result. The success of New Order is proof that they do have talent whether you like their style of music or not. Read Ian Curtis' couple of biographies to have a better understanding of the band.

Agreed! I'd never seen the real Rob Gretton before watching this today and I had to watch it twice to believe just how uncanny Paddy C's portrayal of his was.
