Bach invented swing bass 200 years before anyone else.

This arrangement by Gould is extraordinary. I listened to a few other version by other performer, and found that there is no keyboard accompanied. But, after listened this performance, it makes you think that piano part is missing from other performance.

@bach1229 I'm quite sure it is a perfect fugue.
-
For the music geeks, is this aria a fugue or does it have fugal properties in it?

@trogloditicus Eunuch's don't have falsetto. It is a phenomenal attributed to functional male (reproductively) voice. Women and eunuchs have a similar, but much rarer phenomenon known as flautino or whistle register. It does not, however, sound like the male falsetto.

Gould toujours tout de mémoire! Très intéressante interprétation. J'aime beaucoup ce chanteur.

@sushidudeiscool I know that, I am German myself :D. Just wanted to point out that Oberlin's German is much less flawed than most singers' Italian.
-
...um that's German not Italian

i remember watching this video almost a decade ago. I recall how this aria left me smiling. What a joyous performance by two masters of Bach.

I have to disagree with some of these comments. Oberlin has a full, natural voice and was ahead of his time. Also I love Gould's slower tempo here.
