Normally only local trains (like the one that picks up speed in the first few seconds of the video) call at the small station Aachen Schanz between Aachen Hbf (central station) and Aachen West. Today is different. The mighty Thalys to Cologne is diverted through here, as several bridges are being replaced between Eschweiler and Dueren this weekend. Judging from the delay announced for the Thalys, I reckon it goes all the way to Duesseldorf and then to Cologne, which is a long detour.
Yes, I used it on the short stretch between Aachen and Cologne multiple times, but not in the other direction to Brussels and France yet. A feature of this train is that it works with the power systems in Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
