"He Touched Me," written by Milton Schafer and Ira Levin for the Broadway musical 'Drat! the cat!, is from one of my all time favorite albums, My Name Is Barbra, Two..., recorded in 1965 for a television special. The wonderful arrangement is by Don Costa who also conducted. The album is available on CD on Columbia.

  • This LP is my favorite of all the many wonderful Streisand albums. And this is one of my favorite songs. She was at the pinnacle of her career, during this period. What a beautiful and powerful voice. And the orchestration is sublime. It makes me weep.

  • @MALP1231 I agree with everything you said.

  • this song is so wonderful because barbra sings it and because of its construction, the band, the words. its music beyond anything. a perfect song, a perfect singer. it gives you goose bumps just to hear it. imagine hearing barbra sing this live!

  • @dennyj8 I agree. It is a wonderful performance.

  • Barbra Streisand totally catches the excitement, power, glory and thrill of BEING IN LOVE - Yes well... it does change everything, doesn't it ? - LOVE!

  • @CoquetteChrissy It certainly does.

  • Can you imagine Mary Magdalene singing this?

Wow... what a film... Joseph of Arimathea.

  • This is probably going out on a limb..but this one of Barbra's most beautiful ballads...everything about it is heartfelt..and cuts you to the bone if you've ever been in love..thank you for posting this beauty..

  • Could you imagine being in the studio when Barbra laid down this track, being one of the musicians or producers? Listening in person as her voices soared through the stratosphere and then even higher on "Suddenly!" in the final phrase? I don't understand how they kept it together to actually perform the orchestration or push stop on the recorder. Oh to be there!!!

  • @alliecat1941 I have. Just one touch.

  • This song is operatic in scope, with the best ending I've ever heard. I get goosebumps the size of watermelons every time I hear it. My mother loved Barbra so much, I think it got into my genes, and my only child, my daughter, LOOKS like her except for her nose! She looks absolutely nothing like me.

She can also sing, while I have a hideous voice.

  • Great song.....but unfortunataly ive never been in love..at least to someone who really loved me back....!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I keep playing the ending over and over... blows me away every time!!
