Governor Declares Celebration of Sesquicentennial of Kansas Statehood
Topeka -- Kansas Governor Sam
Brownback signed a proclamation today declaring January 29, 2011 as the Sesquicentennial of Kansas Statehood. Members of the Kansas Sesquicentennial Committee joined the Governor for proclamation signing.
"150 years ago the State of Kansas was born as an aspiration for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," Gov. Brownback said. "The people of Kansas have met past challenges with a commitment to make a better Kansas and continue to work towards a better tomorrow. I encouraged all Kansans to celebrate and join in the yearlong celebration of our state's birthday."
January 29, 2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the entry of the state of Kansas into the United States of America as its 34th state.
