@butwaitwhatisthis - I agree completely, however i wear a mail shirt under all my plate at Tewkesbury, ive found that if you split it down the back and buckle it up from behind it takes a lot of weight off, looks reallt good with a livery over the top!

@acerb45666555 By the late C15th mail was going out of fashion. It's effective against cuts, whereas thrusts and arrows can penetrate it pretty easily. If plate armour is worn properly, the wearer is surprisingly mobile - and those who could afford a full harness of plate would have trained to fight in it from childhood. Also remember that a mail shirt hangs on your shoulders, so the whole weight is in one place. If they were unhorsed, it's likely they were killed while they were on the ground!

back then i would stick with chainmail. plate armor is too heavy. there are old reports of knights getting unhorsed, and totally unable to stand up!!
