  • Nice video showing the true MRAP, the Cougar and the Buffalo. That piece of junk Maxxpro doesn't even protect the engine compartment OR the driver/front passenger with a "V" shaped bottom.

  • The cougar is the pos. welded together? you have to torch parts off and weld new ones on wtf? soldiers working on them hate them. spare parts dont fit, are hard to get and FP had to get help to make more than 100 per month. haha what a joke!

The Maxxpro is bolted together, on a proven truck chassis, better crew protection, faster, easier to work on, lots of spare parts, the cadillac of MRAPs and

Navistar makes more than 500 per month.

    get your facts straight!

  • The Anti-IED Vehicles don't even help anymore, the fucking IED's are now tied to lamppost, if your hit by that you're screwed, no armor protection up on top, real damn smart!

  • Im in Iraq right now, currently operating a Maxpro. I would rather have a god damn camen. Better suspension and tons more room to store stuff.

  • now this is what we need, ieds are pretty much the only thing that the insurgents have an upper hand on but once we are protected from ieds than the insurgents are fucked.

  • @Iraqendwar Quite insane, this morning on MPR I heard a story with an actual Unit in Afghanistan, the lead car was one of these MRAP and it hit an IED. They were launched up into the air but all came down fine. They landed and were all laughing and fist pumping. They went outside to see almost the whole front part and most of the engine gone. They later found out that they it 71 pounds, 71 that is flipping crazy yet not one American was even injured. I am glad our tax money is saving lives.

  • South Africa have deployed this technology with V-shaped undercarrige for decades. So it not news, but I guess shitload of peoples have to die before the topbrass get their heads out their asses!!!

  • Sigh...build more armor on vehicles, the enemy just use more bigger and more powerful explosives..which is why for example: putting more armor of ships is obselete ;)

  • 10 kg tnt insallah

  • men 6izi

  • FP has been building Cougars since what? 2005? they brag about building 100 per month in August of 2007? thats with help from General Dynamics lol what a joke!

IMG Navistar built 560 in August 2007 after only starting production at the Garland Texas truck plant in May of 2007.

now they build almost 600 per month.

there are no facts about the Cougar or Cheetah that are better than the Maxxpro... other than they keep welders busy in Iraq!

  • and the Maxxpro has three layers of steel under the cab and a V shaped plate under the cab, you are so wrong. The engine also has armor. I see the engine armor and floor armor roll by on a conveyor line every day.

The engine armor is 1/2" thick AR508 armor plate. the floor also has a thick carbon based armor in the inside. The Cougar and Cheetah have less protection and are down more than 5 times as lon after being hit by the same size IED due to the welded together design.
