material is crs,
operation,,,
open up 1.8 pilot hole to 5.125 rough.
Using a high feed cutter moving 235.ipm at 1750 rpm.
my depth passes are .027
It takes about 20 mins. to do one bore at 5" deep.
if i had a bigger pilot hole or cutter, i could cut the time in half with one diameter pass per depth pass.

  • Thats freaking slow for CRS. I use Iscar high feed mills in CRS and I use 1200 sfm with .035/tooth feed. My 1" feed mill spins 4600 rpm and feeds 480 ipm with a .04 doc, 65% cutter dia.

  • .025 -.050 chip load Yikes !! ?? Are you sure you don't mean .0025 -.005 "

  • Why not do a helical tool path? You could keep the cutter fully engaged and maintain your depth of cut. Most high-feed mills operate at around .025-.050 chipload per insert(varies from company to company) and also have ramp angles from say 1.5 degrees to 6 degrees(depending on tool dia.).

Just a thought to save a little time
