Restoring the Family Sanctuary

The biblical church of the New Testament met primarily in homes where the family functioned as the basic church with each member serving and loving one another through their God-given giftings and ministries. While the father functioned as the lead priest of the home, each member of the family was an active participant in worship, prayer, study and fellowship. Individual families would join with other families for extended home gatherings around the covenant meal, study and prayer.

Like-minded families joined with others for corporate gatherings to celebrate but the emphasis was the family as the sanctuary of the Lord. The families understood that they, not a building, were the basic unit of the church where the primary ministry to one other was to take place in a safe, loving, learning environment of caring, sharing and bearing of one another's burdens.
The focus was relationships, not religious activity.

The Lord is awakening a godly remnant of believers with a holy dissatisfaction with the traditional performance-based, spectator form of Christianity. People know something is missing but are often confused and lost in their search. At IHCS, we believe the desire for intimacy and relationships with God and one another can be found by restoring the family sanctuary.
