@Loreleila yes, that's an apt image, water over sand, and I see your point: probably it is one's unwitting resistance to the flow that contributes to its (pathological) distortion, yet when stuck in a vicious dynamic I think one needs to strain in one way or another in order to be able to get out of it (diet, exercise, the practice of mental visualization, etc.), it is not impossible, however, that during this (disciplined) process healing begins as one recognizes and surrenders to the flow
For me it's more a question of surrender to the flow rather than either constriction of it or any attempt to direct or block it. It can then flow where it needs, be as deep or shallow as it needs, converge with other flows when it can. As you started talking I was envisioning the flow of water over sand, the beautiful patterns it can create.
