I have converted several Homelite engines for model use and they all run nice. The carbureters i put on are Walbros with a bigger throat to get more power. On the engine itself, the modifications are to cut away most of the mounting flange from the crankcase, cut the fins off the flywheel, and add a propeller adapter. I tried converting a Ryobi but could never get it to run reliably.

I've been wondering what the R/C guys do to keep Homelite engines running. The dumpsters seem to be full of string trimmers that only last one summer. What modifications do you make for reliability? Seriously, if an R/C carb will keep a trimmer running then I will buy one and install it.

The model was built from Don Smith plans and is powered by two converted Homelite 25cc leafblower engines. Weight is about 35lbs.

@scottduncan44 The title is not misleading. It never said full scale or restored original. How many 110s do you know of that can fly if not in model form? I think you were expecting more than the title says...

for an R/C plane those engines sound LOVEELY.. really nice

what a nice model! Is it scratch built or a kit? Id like to know more information about it

A beautiful model but why can't these modelers include that it is in fact a model in their title I for one feel offended when some ass uses a misleading title to build up the number of veiws.

Who makes this kit, do you know?
Nice piece of work. I`m a R/C pilot too. The
hardest part of the flight is to land in one piece. Did it land in one piece?

Yes, it did land in one piece and this happened many times. The pilot was a very experienced person. He is the one in the video. His name is Jim Suchy.
