This was taken in March, a month after I had my black tortie girl, Betsie, put down. Calypso had taken a ride in the engine of a car a few days earlier from a property she had been hiding on after being abandoned. We took her in, with plans to take her to the vet and then the shelter, if she didn't have feline Leukemia. After loosing Betsie, I wasn't up to having another cat, but there's something about this young kitten (who was five months old when we found her) that drew me close to her. This was after her vet visit, which she was diagnosed with ear mites, worms, fleas, sinus infections, and a permanently scarred eye from a fight with possibly another cat. She's now spayed, healthy and no longer sneezing. Her sinuses are permanently damaged after being in the cold woods for so long. When we took her to the vets, they told us she had one week left to live if we hadn't found her.
