John Williams took much of his inspiration for his Star Wars score from different sources depending on which era we're talking about. In 4-6, it could have easily been Holst, and Stravinsky. But in 1-3, the music was much more 'march-y' which could easily be interpreted as Kodaly, Prokofiev, but it's also possible he took more from Holst and Stravinsky in the first three as well.
Oh, quite obviously. We can hear that in Mars, as well as Jupiter. But my point picks up where most people try to relate Williams with Holst. I'm only giving my interpretation as it were. It seems there were invariably a slew of composers who's works elicited more than just inspiration part and parcel to the makeup of William's 'magnum opus', I'm merely naming a few dead ringers, and since I'm a fan of Holst, I don't feel guilty about my biased inclinations. Good observation on the 5/4 tho.
