when i try to make a cube a soft body, it does not drop down, i hangs around in the sky dangling, any help?

I can't find COLLISION DETECTION anywhere. I'm using Blender 2.49b. Trying hard on my own to figure out how to keep my cloth from falling through the cube to actually drape over the cube. Please help. Great tutorial! May we have a CLOSER view of your screen to see what buttons you're clicking.

this tutorial is getting quite old now and since it was made, various options have moved around. softbodies are still in there, but the process has changed slightly. if i get time, i'll make an updated version of this.

I am having so many problems with this it's not even funny. When I try ti subdivide it the second time, it won't let me. When I try to select 1 object, it selects them both! Do you have any clue what I'm doing wrong.

sounds like there could be some mix-up about when you should be in edit mode, and when you should be in object mode.

when i press f7 and go to the particles it says that only mesh objects can generate particles...what am i doing wrong?
