    The idea is that it is better to accurately remember 30 words for a long time than to remember 100 sentences for ten seconds.

    And when you have those 30 words, that is not all you remember, because remembering one key word will allow you to think back about say, an entire chapter.

    I hope you take no offence btw, I'm just trying to explain how it can be useful. :) Obviously everyone should take notes in the way they prefer.

    The brain stores info in an identical way to these mind maps. So essentially these diagrams are like putting part of your mind on a page.

    Sentences and paragraphs are linear while mind maps are dynamic and multidimensional. Due to their nature, they have great potential to organize vast amounts of information which will greatly assist the memory and learning process because they have the structure of the mind, not a string of words.
