i've seen these Korean riot police first-hand. They are sadistic pussies. The police you see here are too big of cowards to join the Korean military (mandatory) service , so they take out their insecurities on Korean civilians who only wish to protest.

@bambarius Oh yeah? In what way? Often English teachers see things on a superficial level and tend to critique in their high and mighty Westernized POV when there are even greater glaring problems at where they are from. Not saying Korea does not have a problem. But I don't like Westerners condescending attitude toward Asia in general. Case in point IMF during Asian Financial crisis. Only to commit far worse mistakes with their own banking and white collar crimes. Tsk tsk tsk...

I have lived the "good" life here and still see and feel how far this country has to go. For the most part, Korea is only concerned about how things look to others, but underneath it all, you learn about things like this, and the poor treatment of foreigners, and other Koreans, alike. Pitiful country. I only hope the generation coming through the schools now are allowed to see the world as an international place and be able to express themselves in their own country.
