LA cop punches disabled woman

A Los Angeles policeman has been filmed punching a disabled woman in the face on a bus after she called him a "big shot".
Jermaine Green, who was on the bus with his fiancee Violet Roberts, claimed the police also tried to intimidate him after he refused to hand over his mobile with video of the attack.

Mr Green told NBC LA he first noticed the disabled woman, who has not been named, when she boarded the bus with a pram full of pillows, saying: "It was very obvious that she had special needs."

The deputies got on at the next stop and called the woman by name, ordering her to get off, Mr Green said, who recently returned to the US after serving six years in the US army.

When she refused and started swearing they grabbed her and tried to force her to leave, prompting her to yell at the male deputy, he said.

"She calls him a 'big shot', and the next thing you know he gives her a big shot," Mr Green said, adding that the deputy saw that he was being filmed before he hit the woman.

Mr Greens claims the deputies then demanded his phone.

"He comes to me and says 'look you can be under arrest if you don't give me that video'," Mr Green said.

Ms Roberts said she was shocked the deputies resorted to violence.

"It looked like they were tired of dealing with her, they didn't try to talk to her at all," she said.

A spokesman for the sheriff's office told LA Weekly that the police approached the woman after a report that she had "almost attacked" an elderly man, Huffington Post reports.

He said the woman had previous arrests, including charges of assaulting a police officer.

Its only because of aggressive obstructive abusive losers like this that cops lose their rag and RIGHTLY lash out occasionally. I would argue it wasnt enough because she was still obstructive and abusive. Cops shouldnt have to tolerate this sort of hostility when doing their jobs. Easy to criticise on the basis of 1 action, but cops are doing society's dirty work and they deserve our support and respect.

Thanks for posting this PS, because most people know about LAPD brutality, but not LASD (Los Angeles Sheriff's Department) brutality. I think they get away with this because their cars have NO DASHCAMS, thus they can get away with anything. Thanks for posting this! This shows they abuse people, just as they did with me, WITHOUT PROBABLE CAUSE!!!

Resisting arrest is a major issue with ANY cops ANYWHERE.

If cops want to arrest, just go along and sort it all out later.

Resisting arrest does NOT go down well at all in court and counts against you.

Heavy people only respond to a punch in the face or, worse, a police truncheon on their HEAD. A punch is the least of her worries.

She deserves special consideration in court as she is mentally unwell.
