A quick clip of the Icom IC-r5 at work. This was connected to an external roof mounted Discone antenna.

  • will the rc-45 pick up normal radio stations i have the rc-45 and i cant get my head around it

  • @yammo12

Sorry, I don't know what the rc-45 is. I did a quick google search but can't find what you are referring to.

If you give me some more info I will do my best to help

  • @denmonkey there is a few digital police channels still in operation. sadly though we have lost to encription the following. the hole nsw central coast, newcastld and inner sydney areas. i live in the UK where we have lost most of ours so tune into a lot of this stuff online to still get my fix. there still is qite a few that are either digital but unencripted or analogue.

  • @eas17dale Thanks for the info. I'm located in Newcastle but am able to rx the upper Hunter region from here even without the external antenna.

Can I ask what site or software you use to listen in on local emergency services ?

  • this sounds like it was recorded a good 3 years ago. i am only thinking that cos of the callsigns used. for example seznoc 25 and 36. back when te likes of seznoc maitland etc came under separate vkc callsigns. where as now all that area comes under the central hunter callsigns

  • @eas17dale hI,

This was recorded approx a year ago when it was loaded. Its been a while since I posted it so don't recall the details of the calls etc.

I'm just glad there is still some analogue activity about to listen to :) Almost like listening to the soaps sometimes .

  • @denmonkey i dont use any particular software. there is a site called radio reference that has tons of streaming links to this stuff. your lucky over there. here in england you might aswell chuck your scanner in the rubbish. you can hardly pick anything up now. perhaps the odd taxi company but that is more or less it.

  • @DENMONKEY i know,I plan to buy such iCom, because I have Intek ar 109, aleon a terrible roar as the long antenna connects

  • @lowerhunter208
