Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions # 001 - Beginning and the Kidnapping of Princess Ovelia

Hi everybody. With the re-re-release of this game again on iOS devices it felt natural to play through Final Fantasy Tactics again. I will be emulating the original PSX version that is patched with an amazing translation patch that can be found on Ffhacktics.com.

As some of you guys may know, the original version of FFT on the PSX had a rather lackluster translation. The PSP (and iOS versions) of FFT had a much better and refined translation, but the enhanced port was marred by the fact that lag occurred during skill use (and apparently it's even worse throughout the WHOLE game, not just skills, for some iOS devices).

Despite all the nice additions in the PSP version of FFT, the lag during skills pretty much killed it for me. Oh, and the lack of "echo" in sounds sucked too. So naturally, playing the original version of FFT with the new translation was just a win-win scenario for me.

These first videos will look and sound a little rough because I was still fiddling with the emulator settings, but quality will drastically start to improve within the next few videos. Enjoy watching!

Wait, wasn't the lagging problem in the original PS1 version also?

No. I am almost 100% certain that the PS1 version did not lag like the PSP version. If you are playing the PS1 version on the PSP (like the PSN version), it doesn't lag either. Square just got lazy and intentionally programmed in the lag for some reason.

Might I ask what sound plugin you are using for this emulation? I'm using P.E Op.S. DSound 1.9 and it is giving me bad results. Yours sounds perfect.
