  • I think it would be kind of cool to rig a second camera on a magic arm shooting the PFD/ND instruments during your approach videos, and edit them in to the forward view.

I'm also wondering how much the FMS helps during VOR approaches, doesn't YMML have a VOR approach?

  • @scootmcgoot1

It helps to use the FMS for non precision approaches. Reduces alot of workload. Yes, YMML does have a RW34 VOR approach but most people prefer to use the RNAV approach nowadays.

  • During landing roll when do you usually disarm autobrake system (Speed) ?

It probably depends on RWY conditions (dry, wet, slush etc.) right ?

Techniques for release autobrakes system can affect passenger comfort and landing distance...As I remember from 777 FCTM disarming brakes before coming out from reverse thrust provides a smooth transition to manual braking.

How does it work in A330 ?

  • @patryk7771

Between 60 kts to 40 kts, regardless of runway conditions. Doing this at low speed provides the best transition and control.

  • Wow. 186t landing weight (187t is max available for A333). You must have been carrying a lot of cargo for a relatively short sector? Excellent vids, keep 'em coming!

    Merci beaucoup.

  • Great video man, Keeps the inspiration going!!

    gets closer everyday!

  • @airtimbuktu Thx for the info ^^

  • @dedeyun

Yes, at 50 ft, the pitch axis changes to direct law while the roll axis remains in normal law. This results in a need to pull back on the stick to flare. Very natural and instinctive. The logic and all those fancy FBW stuff is quite transparent to pilots.

  • I like the music--it goes well with this approach video! Annotations were nice as well!

    Keep it up!

  • @airtimbuktu Ehh, Then I'm still quite unsure about the FBW logic when it comes to landing. I heard that once it reaches a certain height, it automatically change to direct law? Mind explaining further into that? Thx
