Some rhymed couplets, a joyous refrain, it's 1943 in Paris and Edith Piaf is singing of her love in this classic chanson, words by Edith Piaf, music by Alèc Siniavine: It's a year before she met singer/actor Yves Montand, but he dominates this video because his pictures most suit the romantic text. Others in her list of lovers, Greek singer/songwriter Georges Moustaki ("Milord"),world boxing champion Marcel Cerdan, American actor Eddie Constantine, French actors Jacques Pills and Paul Meurisse, French songwriter Henri Contet, ("Padam, Padam")and hairdresser/singer Théo Sarapo. Charles Aznavour makes an appearance but was reported not to be serious lover.
Thanks to philipchek of YouTube and Paris who guides non-francophones through the vagaries of chanson and the French language and helped with this translation. See his channel for English songs with French subtitles.

  • One of my favorite chansons...the lyrics are so erotic ,exciting and

the feel is so gay and lighthearted but oh soooo passionate , just grand !!

  • beautifull

  • The REAL Love of Edith's life, was Marcel Cerdan!! He was killed in an airplane crash, coming from Paris to New York, to see her.

  • I love this love song. Edith sang so beautifully.

  • Love it. This is what love feels like, and she says it so beautifully.

  • Dans la vie on est peau d’balle

Quand notre cœur est a clou.

Sans amour on n’est rien de tout.

  • to my concern..there is no photo of the greek guy on wikipedia...."no photo ...bla bla bla....''

  • très belle chanson et beau montage sur sa vie! merci!

  • Une merveille ce partage

    J'aime beaucoup Édith Piaf .Merci
