  • I remember watching this when it first aired in 1971. I was 9 years old and I couldn't wait to go. 4 years later, my parents finally gave in we began a nearly annual WDW tradition that is still going on today.

  • Why doesn't Disney or anyone else make shows like this anymore? It's a shame it's all reality shows and trash now!

  • @MrMau5y That's Julie Andrews Silly!

  • Is that merry POPPINS!?!?

  • I love the first song Glen Campbell sings while walking around on the property. My family went to Disney World for the first time in April, 1972. I have gone at least 15 times since then and are planning our next trip for early December, 2012! I can't wait!!

  • Disney should throw away that teen crap on Disney Channel and bring back the true magic: Walter Elias Disney

  • Going there every year with family we all love it.

I am going every year no matter what

  • Even to this day, no one has matched this place in terms of family entertainment. Like Sesame Street, which came out around the same time, it is a constant that's ready to excite each new generation even as characters come and go.

  • The anniversary date of Oct 1 is also my mother's birthday, which reminds me of my first visit to Disney World back in the early '80s. At the time I was about to enter kindergarten in a few months or so. The visit was indeed quite a thrill as I expected. The most unforgettable part of the experience was when I tried to run up to the stage for Mickey Mouse at a live performance held outside the castle and how my dad chased me to take me back to the audience seating area!

  • It's the 40th anniversary of Disney World, and as someone who visited the resort many times as a child, I would like to say congratulations.

  • Happy 40th Anniversary Disney World Resort! Thank you for everything you do!
