Sifu Jonathan Petree performs Wing Chun's first form, which is named Siu Nim Tao. For its numerous benefits, Sifu Petree normally does the form much slower, taking between 15 minutes and 18 minutes to complete the form. (Production note from Sifu Petree- There are several refinements and details that were PURPOSEFULLY excluded from this "Youtube version" of the form. In class, students learn and train it differently.)

  • I am very intrested in becoming a student and live in Jacksonville. How do the classes run? Any information would be most helpful..

  • @arleis86 Hello, thank you for your interest in learning Wing Chun Gung Fu. Each group class is two hours long, and are on Monday evenings, Wednesday evenings, and Saturday mornings. More information can be found on the Atlantic Warriors website .

  • hi. is this from the Yip Man line of Wing Chun? I need a video of the first form from this line as I have just started.

  • @bluepanido Hi, thank you for your question. Yes, this is the Ip Man line, and from his very first Hong Kong student, Leung Sheung. It is wonderful that you have begun on the wing chun path. Where are you studying?

  • @SifuPetree Hi, I haven't logged onto youtube for a while. thanks for your reply. I am studying the Ip Man line, from Ip Chun/Ip Ching, and through Samuel Kwok, who (I believe) trained my Sifu, Bill McKay in Weston-super-Mare, England. So if I'm not mistaken I suppose the line is Ip Man - Ip Chun - Samuel Kwok - Bill McKay - Me. Does that make me 5th generation of Ip Man?

  • @bluepanido Hi, it could be said in two different ways. 4 generation after Ip Man, or underneath Ip Man. Or secondly, it could be said as 5th generation including Ip Man in the count. I hope this helps. Of course the most important thing is simply consistency, perseverance, and dedication to a lifelong journey on the wing chun path.

    Cheers.

  • YAY!!!! GO UNCLE!!!

  • @muhamedi1 You are welcome. If you are able, try to practice everyday. It is best to practice the Siu Nim Tao form every day so you can develop properly.
