A funny thing: when I first recorded this, I did so because I had heard a Kingston Trio version of it that had a really backwards beat, kind of an insistent guitar part, and liked the overall vibe of the song... even though the lyrics seemed kind of dark. So, when I did this version -- circa February 2009 -- I thought that the rhythm fit together pretty well against the "sideways" Pink Floyd backdrop. While continuing to research the original carol in July this year, I suddenly discovered what the song is *really* about. It *is* dark: REALLY dark - and why it's classified as a Christmas Carol is beyond me. Seek the definition of "carol", and you'll see why I', confused, here.
I also realized that Pink Floyd, with their own innate darkness, were indeed the perfect foil for the song itself. Lullay.
