Oda Slobodskaya "The Singer" Medtner 1

Nikolai Medtner left Russia after the Revolution and, as he was made so welcome in England, he eventually settled in London in 1936, where he taught and composed.

Oda Slobodskaya recorded several of his songs for a subscription series for Rimington van Wyck in 1947.

"The Singer" is a song which asks " Did you not hear the songbird singing all night of love? "The same words are sung by the sisters in the opening duet in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.
