Response-Ability: Meeting the wants of the Age and the Needs of a New Generation

Response-Ability is a ministry of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus grounded in the educational philosophy of our Foundress Cornelia Connelly—which is one that teaches teachers to nurture and embrace the uniqueness in each child. Response-Ability coaches, and trains their volunteers to provide an innovative educational experience for their students—just as the Holy Child Sisters have done for more than a century. The Volunteer Teachers live in community with each other and receive a small stipend, while teaching full-time (much of their living expenses are covered by Response-Ability). This video gives a glimpse into the work that the Response-Ability volunteers have been doing for more than three decades in high risk schools in Philadelphia, Pa.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Washington, D.C.; the Dominican Republic; and Santiago, Chile. I was so glad to see this video on Response-Ability! As one of their Board members, I really think this video gives a great glimpse into how remarkable this organization is and how important it is to bring a nurturing, compassionate approach into education--especially those schools with unmet needs & bright students! Kudos to RA (Liz, Megan, and staff) and to Cornelia for instilling such a strong educational philosophy in the Holy Child Sisters, that they have now instilled in the laity! Bravo!!
