@isoprepable ND on the other hand was still being looked at as a team that was a few turnovers away from being very good (obviously they weren't). At the time USC was a team that has nearly lost to Minnesota and Arizona, terrible teams. and got blown out by the only decent team we had played in ASU. ND was having a huge home game (reminder, we lost to ASU in our only other road game) and then SC came out and smacked em in the mouth.

@tdworak I definitely understand the rivalry & tradition. Records are meaningless? Maybe, but mostly that is an overused cliche. This topic was already concluded with previous comments. It's a difference in opinion on what defines a signature win. There are a few people that think coaches can have multiple SW for any big victory. I believe a SW is just that, one win. A defining game over a top team that proves the coach belongs at his current school. I believe a big win does not equal a SW.

@gman3413 You don't understand the tradition of USC-Notre Dame. Records are meaningless in that game. The longest-running intersectional rivalry in college football. For a coach at SC, every win over ND and ucla considered "signature".

This was not a signature win because beating ND is not that special anymore (yawn).

@isoprepable How does that degrade the program? If you think it degrades the PROGRAM then calling the oregon win is degrading the program since it didn't even mean anything. Maybe beating OU back in 05 was the signature win of the program. Or maybe beating Alabama all the way back in the day to fight segregation was the signature win We aren't arguing USC's signature win's we're arguing Lane Kiffin's signature win, PRIOR TO OREGON. And like i've said, it's subjective.
Nice job on the video, but "signature win for Lane Kiffin?" I guess so if signature wins come over unranked teams that finish 8-5.

@gman3413
notice it was said in october, and it's easy to comment on things after the fact like you have. but *at the time* it was for lane kiffin, considering usc lost to notre dame the year before, road game, and relative to where usc was ranked at the time, and nobody had any idea they'd actually beat oregon, then yes for that short period of time it was a signature win.. but clearly the win over oregon surpassed this notre dame one.
