UCLA stands for University of California - Los Angeles. This video is from their Pilipino Cultural Night, which is a celebration of the Philippine heritage through drama, dance, and music.
Most PCN's get their dances from other PCN's, and because a lot of choreographers don't teach dance through the manuscripts (let's be honest, they're hard to find, especially in the United States), choreography is often at the expense of the choreographer's creativity.
I agree with you. Authenticity suffers when dances originally performed in open spaces ( and without consideration to spectators) are performed on a stage.
but I guess, the choreography and the formation of the dance is quite hard to understand... Is that the way how igorot dance...??? what I mean is their footworks are.... ahem.. peace out...!!!
no offencement huh..??!!! but if that's the way how Igorots dance their "Takiling", you must improve the dance as you were performing it on theaters but of course, you must still keep the authenticity of the dance...
