Transition to Secondary drill

Before the drill another student loads a random number of rounds into the shooter's magazine (between 0 and 4, with one in the chamber). Three silhouette targets are 10 to fifteen yards away. At the start of the drill the shooter begins engaging the targets with two rounds each. As soon as the primary runs empty the shooter immediately transitions to his secondary and continues to engage the targets. At the end of the drill the shooter re-holsters his secondary and reloads his primary.

  • That scan was weak.

  • Continued from last comment... Should they (the soldier) run out of ammo, they dont reload their empty mags, they have someone pass them a loaded one. The ONLY situation in which empty mags should be retained is in a post-apocalyptic event where finding mag may be impossible (in which case good luck finding ammunition.

  • too slow practice more

  • No need to put that mag in the dirt after 3 rounds. You may need it and the ammo later. If no mag dump pouch it can go in LH cargo pocket of your BDUs Get a BAD lever or hit the bolt release w/ trigger finger of left hand, so it is off the trigger during RH mag change. Drop to kneeling when when mag change and no cover. Just my 2 c...

  • Left eye dominant and right handed? Run an AK. Ergo's are so much better for the left shoulder then the right one.

  • Slow is slow, smooth is economy of motion ;)

  • Someone needs a BAD lever! =]

  • @jakjakman this is very common, I am in the same boat.....lol!

  • @jakjakman Damn, I'm sorry man.

  • @jakjakman I'm the same way. Though I can shoot with both eyes on the right shoulder with some weapons

  • Chad!!!!!!! I saw this and laughed my ass off!

  • @jakjakman I'm the same way. Left eye dominant, but I still shoot right handed as my primary. Took some getting used to.
