From her 2005 album Aerial

Lyrics:

The chorus:
Sweet dreams

On this Midsummer night
Everyone is sleeping
We go driving into the moonlight

Could be in a dream
Our clothes are on the beach
These prints of our feet
Lead right up to the sea
No one, no one is here
No one, no one is here
We stand in the Atlantic
We become panoramic

We tire of the city
We tire of it all
We long for just that something more

Could be in a dream
Our clothes are on the beach
These prints of our feet
Lead right up to the sea
No one, no one is here
No one, no one is here
We stand in the Atlantic
We become panoramic

The stars are caught in our hair
The stars are on our fingers
A veil of diamond dust
Just reach up and touch it
The sky's above our heads
The sea's around our legs
In milky, silky water
We swim further and further
We dive down We dive down

A diamond night, a diamond sea
and a diamond sky

We dive deeper and deeper
We dive deeper and deeper
Could be we are here
Could be in a dream
It came up on the horizon
Rising and rising
In a sea of honey, a sky of honey
A sea of honey, a sky of honey

Look at the light, all the time it's a changing
Look at the light, climbing up the aerial
Bright, white coming alive jumping off the aerial
All the time it's a changing, like now
All the time it's a changing, like then again
All the time it's a changing
And all the dreamers are waking.

  • Aerial is as soothing as a cool summer's breeze. Probably her best.

  • "We tire of the city .... we tire of it all ... "

Ain't it the truth? Ain't it the truth?

  • Quel bonheur ce titre...

  • This piece takes my breath away. I love the way this song unfolds, the beautiful melody, its atmosphere. It's so intricately finished. So delicate and so strong. Just love it!

  • @kkdkk7 You got it perfectly. Kate Bush is an incredible writer who gets those perceptions to exude emotional responses. The Sublime. That's why her music is timeless and those who follow usually think a little about what she says.

  • Kate Bush truely knows the nights well .. so atmospheric .. so soothing ..

.. the final part of the song sees the night giving way to sunrise (sky of honey) , night time giving way to day time, the incremental stirring violence of disruption of the once peaceful night ..

.. haven't we all felt this way before ? .. a blissful sleep violently woken up by the glaring sun ?

  • @kennyrumbles If I'm not mistaken, mr. Bass player was her fella for 15 years, after which they had a friendly separation.

  • @legiteblogger - That's the most accurate description of Kate as an artist that I've ever read. So true. She can get you jumping up and down about the description of a ray of light climbing up a TV aerial...

  • Kate Bush is the greatest artist alive - she can make you feel in love with everything.

  • This music is magical. It's a vehicle to Somewhere Else.
