  • @Arkybark america and brought the "fiddle" to america were the scots and the irish our celtic cousins. Please, to tell a true and proud scotsman that Bannockburn is a parody of a battle that was fought in a country not even founded until over a century later, then , yes sir, you are an idiot

  • @Arkybark the tune may be a parody, unfortunately you need to do some research into scottish history, the lyrics may be sung in a comedic fashion but they are as true as the day they were written, so to your comment to listen to the lyrics as they prove a parody I say you are an idiot, the lyrics are in no way a parody, "shoot the craw" a well known scottish phrase, as for the word "fiddle" as a scotsman and "fiddle" player, I feel you should check where the immigrants who now populate

  • @MrTLaing: Be careful who you call idiot. If you understand the Corries' humour and listen to the words it's obvious that this a parody. If you don't believe, check out the discussion on the other youtube posting of this song, and if you don't believe that, either, Wikipedia says "The Battle of New Orleans" was written by Jimmy Driftwood. The melody is based on a well-known American fiddle tune "The 8th of January". Parodies (include) "The Battle of Bannockburn" by The Corries."

  • @Arkybark listen to the lyrics, bannockburn - 1314 AD, Columbus born - 1451 AD ya plum

  • @Arkybark you are an idiot

  • Yes, it is a parody of the Battle of New Orleans. If nothing else, the harmonica gives it away. They also have another parody of it.

  • @robsargent4 Cheers Mate, Is there any other sport?, The final was a nail biter but 1 point is all you need for a litlle payback, The Rugby and Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior

  • @ac130ugunship & the Scot'll stand with the Kiwi. congratulations on the World Cup by the way (don't know if you're a rugby fan but I am)

  • @Glennovan Shit No, The Kiwi will stand WITH the Scot, my part of my Island was settled by the Scot, and have our own Bannockburn, Invercargill, Dunedin(Edinburgh of the South) Benmore etc etc
