YouTube changed the 3D player; Videos must now be squashed, which this is not -- that's why the aspect is distorted.

Elephants Dream is the story of two strange characters exploring a capricious and seemingly infinite machine. The elder, Proog, acts as a tour-guide and protector, happily showing off the sights and dangers of the machine to his initially curious but increasingly skeptical protege Emo. As their journey unfolds we discover signs that the machine is not all Proog thinks it is, and his guiding takes on a more desperate aspect.

Originally released in 2006, Elephants Dream got a carefully directed stereoscopic makeover in 2010, rendered at Digital Cinema 2K Flat resolution.

Since releasing the video I found another set of glitches, the most notable a (very short) shot, in which there's no eye separation. I already fixed this for the download releases and also will add an improved version here.

From where can I download a 3D version of Elephants Dream?

There are only 2D versions on official ED website.

  • @JCDent0n See in the Video description for a download link of the 3D version.

  • Where i can download the 1080p "Red/Cyan optimized (Dubois)" version? my PC can´t play smooth videos from youtube in Full screen mode, but if i play the same Video with VLC it run smooth.

    thanks.

  • @josecmVR All those viewing methods offered by the YT3D player are done in realtime, with a side-by-side video as source. Unfortunately I don't know of any stereoscopic player other than YT3D that does Dubois.

  • separation too low :( but great film, wow

  • @crim3cost separation is for big screens (i.e. cinemas). If you turn up the separation too far, you're forcing people to diverge their eyes.

Also stereoscopy newbies tend to set separatio too wide, in an effort to "really show it's 3D and has depth". It's like applying spice to food: Don't kill the taste with flavour.

  • This looks absolutely beautiful on evo3d, can't wait for BBB and Sintel! Thank you so much for your contributions to the BF and the community

  • Great video mate, but you need add the 16:9 ratio tag:

    yt3d:aspect=16:9

    and if you want [yt3d:swap=true]

    Cheers

  • Find a version that even plays in full color 3-D on vimeo under 17401233

  • @hexarith I got it to work! I was fairly simple. Would you mind If I did a tutorial on this method?

  • Hi Hexarith, I wonder if you'd like to upload an openKMQ compatible over/under version to the new vimeo group openKMQ3D. over/under is one of the recommended upload formats, but unfortunately banned by Google as output. The new vimeo group also provides intructions how to prepare. If you limit it to a total of 768x1024 and 1.8Mbps H264/MP4 it will even play on iPad3D and other tablets - full color and ghostfree!

  • Great work, it was awesome to see elephants dream once again, but.. am I the only one where the video looks better watching it in windowed mode instead of fullscreen? Using Green/Magenta (Full Color)
