Classic Game Room HD is a new member of the Classic Game Room family. A more relaxed, subdued show about classic video games from the past 30 years.

You may have played Centipede on Xbox Live Arcade XBLA, but have you played it on the Atari 7800? Do you even know what an Atari 7800 is? It's a higher number than the Atari 2600 and 5200, that's one thing.

The 7800 had better graphics and was backwards compatible with 2600 games. Not many games came out for the system, but the arcade hit Centipede was fortunately one of them.

Be sure to watch the original Classic Game Room episodes. Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD.

  • Well the 7800 came out AFTER the NES. My friend bought his and we loved it. But mainly since we could play the 2600 games on it as well the 7800 games. Cool video!

  • The 360 doesn't really have much invested in HD-DVD. It's just an addon.

  • I love the Atari 2600, just hooked it back up. But I GOT to find me a 7800. Only played it a few times back in the day but I loved it.

  • @Evilmonkey66699 LATE POST

    but yeah luls. The deal actually fell apart because Atari discovered that Nintendo also published Donkey Kong on the ColecoVision, which was one of Atari's competitors ^^;

  • So I ordered an Atari 7800 awhile ago and I just noticed it still had a plastic strip over the silver area. When I removed, it was so shiny. so awesome.

  • @Evilmonkey66699 Ok, thank you for the information! :D

  • @roytje1993 The 7800 was released after the NES yes but it was made years before, it was actually made to be Atari's answer to the Colecovision but didn't get released due to the home console market crash of 1984. So when Nintendo finally brought over the NES stateside and revived the home console market Atari decided to dust off the 7800 pro system. It's also interesting to note that Atari almost had the rights to release the NES here in the states but the crash killed that deal. .

  • its kinda wierd, if this thing came out after the NES then what the hell is up with the graphics

  • A time when games were played for fun and the only achievement you cared about was being number 1 in the Hall of Fame.

  • Better than xbox 360 :D

  • I have a centipede running up my wall.
