SEPTEMBER 3rd & 4th, 2011 --- Tried to go for a 2 night, 3 day camping trip in the Jemez National Recreation Area (Jemez pronounced: HAY-mez) for Labor Day weekend but I ended up only camping for an overnight before the driving rain caused the dirt roads to become extremly muddy. I ended up bailing from my camp the next morning in fear of getting my truck stuck on the muddy, unmaintained logging roads.

  • fantastic

  • Killer views - at least you got in one night. The lightweight plier-knife is becoming essential for this type of recreation and I've got one too. I spent a cool but very nice dry night in the Pike Nat'l Forest last night, enjoying the fire and a moonless sky full of stars.

  • I was memorized by the views total wonder. That Bill is one hell of a guy.

  • Oh man! It has been a while since going to the Jemez and camping and adventuring off in the wilderness. I can't wait until I can head up there! Thanks for posting and nice shots of that deer and wildflowers!

  • Looks good Matt. Been all summer, and then-some, since i been in them there hills. LOL. Have they lifted the open fire restricts? Very nice of Mr. Bill to send the package :)

  • 'nother well-shot backpacking tale, crazytailez! btw, what do you use to shoot your footage? i'm in the market for a lightweight vid & pic camera. thanx!

  • Matt get off that ledge its crumbled and ready to break off!

Non-stop fabulous scenery there while the clouds continued to roll in - tough break about the rain. Good to see you got home safe.

Always enjoy your macro photos - there is beauty on every inch of this planet if we just take the time and effort to get down close enough to see it, and you do.

Again Matt - thank you for my most favorite tee-shirt! It really does mean a lot to me my friend. Thumbs up indeed!

  • beautiful country awesome bud

  • Wow buddy, that is some GORGEOUS country there! I'm really going to have to head down there sometime and hook up with ya for a trip ;-) Loved the way you put this video together Bro! You have a great eye for the natural beauty out there... stunning photography too!

How cool of Bill to send such a cool and thoughtful gift! He is definitely a stand-up guy! It's good to have such good friends, eh? :-)

Take the best care my Brother! Thumbs up!

  • I was wondering what you've been doing lately. Now I know. Goofing off in some really gorgeous countryside -- as usual. You sure have discovered some lovely areas. Makes me want to get out into the desert some more. The clouds are gorgeous. I can't do without 'em for too long. Love watching them. Hey, does Bill give those knives and tea away for the asking or do I have to send him somethun? LOL. I've got some old oil rags I can send him. Yuk!Yuk!
