Ireland has the IRA, The US has the IRS and Salt Spring gets the IRSU (Integrated Road Safety Unit) RCMP "highway patrol" on Salt Spring Island giving out tickets to Saltspringers for not wearing seat belts and or talking on their cell phones. Seems like everyone wants to knock the Police. Oh by the way, how in gods name can you compare the IRA to the IRS or IRSU?

@attaat There is no comparison to the IRA or IRS. The "IRSU" name seems like a poor choice to me. Obviously they where not thinking of a catchy marketing name. It seems lame Integrated Road Safety Unit. How about ITU is is shorter and easier to remember and it stands for what it is Integrated Tax Unit. Their slogan could be buckle up or pay. Not everyone is knocking the police they are doing their job which at the end of the day will make everyone buckle up and maybe live a little longer.

@escapetosaltspring I was sitting with Gary and his wife the other day at Basketball and I was telling him about this video. I should send it to my friend who lives in Ladysmith and works for the Road safety unit and may be on our island at some point pulling over locals and issuing fines, lol

These traffic cops are just doing their job, but do we need to pay cops 80 or 90 grand a year to do this brain dead type of enforcement. There should be a lower paid traffic service to do this stuff and let the cops investigate real crime.

Off island cops at Embe bakery.Some people deserve being pulled over some don't.Salt Springs is a funny place.

@lamour65 I believe it's more about getting unsafe vehicles off the road than fictional "ICBC kickbacks". Do you want unsafe vehicles on the road where you and your family drive?? I sure don't.
