Want to be a lifeguard to work on that tan? There's a little more to it than that. Members of the lifeguard staff at water park Splash in the 'Boro in Statesboro, Ga. walk us through the fun and the challenges of their job in the summer of 2009.
This is probably my favorite video I've produced for the Herald. Looks pretty rough compared to good television pieces. But I wanted to take a more documentary approach rather than the more typical "talking head" approach. I've always felt it was more important to show people actually doing what they do, rather showing them talking about what they do.
I thought these were Ellis guards until the stoner looking dude popped up haha If I showed up to work with any facial hair I would definitely get sent home to shave!

Does anyone else notice the defects in this video? A lifeguard fixing a kids lifejacket has to take their eyes off the water...how can you blow you whistle if you are twirling it around your finger....let's not mention the guy with the dreads who didn't do a rear approach to "Save" the passive submerged "victim" (I know it was a practice but what use is practice if you don't do it correctly?)
