Yes at the last 2 km I noticed that after every 500 meters there is an escape door indicating the shortest escape route. :-)

This has got to be the most Freudian vid I've ever seen on youtube.

That is one LONG tunnel! Being that I live in "earthquake country", I couldn't help but think what would happen in there if an earthquake hit! The thought made me shudder!

If there were an accident in the middle blocking both lanes I wonder how many days it would take rescue workers to reach it.

Today I was travelling from Switserland to Austria. Being a bit claustrofobic I always comfort myself when passing a tunnel knowing each tunnels length... After passing about 10 tunnels with lengths varying from 800 meters to 5 km, each indicating it's length with a clear sign at it's entrance, I suddenly reached the entrance of THIS TUNNEL! There was no sign to be found at it's entrance. After about 10 km I started to wonder if this monster would ever end. the next 6 km where HELLL!!!!!!

Hehe. I know - if your brain goes wrong in there you can be in trouble. Note the doors at various intervals though. ;-)

How many miles -- or kilometers, I suppose -- does it cover?

I think - I think - it was 14 kilometers which is equal to 8.69919669 miles according to the google converter.
