A short informative video about the concept of concealed carry and why some civilians choose to carry firearms. It also looks at concealed carry at universities, specifically Grand Valley State University in west Michigan.

This is meant to be an educational video which will hopefully address some common fears and misconceptions about concealed carry, as well as establish a basis of understanding for those who may not know very much about this subject.

Includes interviews with Dr. Christopher Kierkus, an associate professor in the School of Criminal Justice at GVSU; Brian Tucker, president of Students For Concealed Carry On Campus at Grand Valley; and Marshal Boyd, hunting manager at Gander Mountain in Grandville, MI.

  • Great Video, Hopefully this will get a few people THINKING.

  • What solid proof does anybody have that weapons on campus will compromise the learning and living atmosphere of the university community? People need to get over their illogical fears.

  • @5Kwame "If you want peace, prepare for war." The weak will be preyed on, and have been preyed on throughout human history. It has been the nature of the world til now, and civilization doesn't change a thing about human nature.

  • @5Kwame Yeah...well I suggest you go look at persecuted peoples throughout history. Sure they are martyrs and admirable...but they died early and horribly. Hitler disarmed everyone that didn't have an official capacity...and look what happened to everyone he didn't like, including his own populace. While you strive for your purity, I would rather die like a man. I will reach for the gun I carry, screw the one on the table.

  • @5Kwame I have never seen a concept as a threat. Realities are threats, concepts are logic used to determine points of view. Also, I strongly suggest that your logic is inherently flawed, because you are assuming nirvana is everyone thinks like you, or will react non-violently. Tell you what...go experience a violent crime...go put yourself somewhere and flash money around. Then come back and tell me your viewpoint hasn't changed.

  • @luvunitedluvguns Good point. I wouldn't bother trying to change his/her mind. No point in even trying to reason with someone like that who has no experience to back up their point of view.

  • @5Kwame thats like saying that just because you have never been in a car wreck, you shouldnt wear a seatbelt....or, since your house has never been broken into, that its not a bad idea to leave the front door completely unlocked...however, I imagine that you do both of the above.

More guns do in fact = less crime. Look at the recent drop in crime in the cities of DC and Chicago...In addition, look to England..their crime rate has exploded since the ban on firearms...

  • @scbane ....if you walk into a room with a stranger and there is one gun on the table ... rather than wrestling to get the gun first 'so we can be safe' .. we should both rather feel as if there is no need of a gun in the room to begin with...and until we start living as a people again .. then someone will always be reaching for the gun ..but id rather die striving for purity as a being rather than living IN and UNDER fear as an individual...a 'gun protected' individual....God is our protector

  • @scbane its not that the PEOPLE are a threat...its the concept and idea thats a threat to a peaceful way of life.. even Martin Luther King Jr. did not fight discrimination with violence, despite the numerous violent attacks in which his people were victimized. he fought for peace through peace with peace ....peacefully ... and today whites and blacks can live together more peacefully ... more guns, in my opinion, does not = more peace... you don't try n STEP on the problem with 'bigger guns' ...

  • @luvunitedluvguns have you needed to use your gun at the mall yet? or movies or restaurants etc. .. now i respect yur natural right to protection.. but that natural right of protection could be taken advantage of ..more guns = more peace? doesnt make sense to me....the world would be a better place if there were zero guns rather than if 'everyone had the right to protect themselves' and carried whatever they wanted..
