  • I've seen one shorter - FGW didnt have a unit to cover a Worcester local a few years ago so they used a pair of power cars with two mark 3's!!!

  • That's even shorter than the FGW HST's!

  • If you think this is short try the Virgin Trains into Birmingham New Street any time in the hour before 9am.

  • @gregglesAFC Please dont talk about LDPE DMU's like they are a good thing...

  • and there were still empty seats

  • train set train lol

  • Grand Central ran a few trains like this in passenger service untill they were told it was against regulations as they did not have enough brake force to stop in the required distance from 125 mph They sure had lots of acceleration though

  • @gregglesAFC No HSTs have been replaced all still run with GC. 180 DMUs used to run extra services which have since been instated

  • When GC came into operation in 2008, they used old HST/Class 43 stock. They've since been replaced by brand new DMUs

  • At Fareham station once i saw a class 43 locomotive pulling network rail yellow low loaders, carrying sleepers, rails and ballast. unusual to see a class 43 at fareham and evan more so to see it hauling freight rolling stock
