Thou Shalt Bring Them In and Plant Them, from the oratorio Israel in Egypt (1739, King's Theatre, Haymarket), George Frideric Handel. Russell Oberlin, male alto.

Thou shalt bring them in
and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance,
in the place, Oh, Lord,
which thou hast made for thee to dwell in,
in the sanctuary, Oh, Lord,
which Thy hands have established.

  • E' PURA BELLEZZA; BEEETHOVEN DICEVA CHE HANDEL ERA IL PIU' GRANDE COMPOSITORE VISSUTO ;PER ME QUESTO E' VERO ANCHE OGGI. OBERLIN E' STRUGGENTE.

    THANK YOU FOR POSTING

  • i first heard recordings of Russell Oberlin in the last 50s or early 60s and I was amazed at this new sound I heard. In the last 50 years I have never heard the sound of his voice to this very day. Russell Oberlin was a pioneer in making the counter-tenor voice known - much like Wanda Landowska did for the harpsichord. Thank you for posting this selection, as I have not heard it in a long time.
