Part 3
I guess you're seeing that I call snowboarding less demanding, this is actual fact, speeds and grip demands placed by a board are loads lower than the forces a good skier will generate. I've yet to service a board that has melted ptex base!! Ski racers regularly produce base temperatures high enough to melt ptex, just stand at the bottom of the slope during a training session and smell the money burning off!

Part 2
However, this is where many guys stop learning, and this where skis start to become more interesting than boards. The 4 axis motion starts to become somewhat limiting, but inherently easier to master!! I've seen loads of really good boarders switch to 2 planks because they find it more interesting in the end, but to be fair a good number of those that fail to fully master skiing make the transition to boards. They find the tougher progression of skis just too frustrating!! But...

weee! Actually skiing is loads more demanding than boarding, Fact..
On a board you can only effectively do 4 different movements, left, right, heel edge, toe edge, thereafter all else is just combinations of these, such as foot steering etc. Therefore with just these 4 basics you have full control of your board, Simple see!
Now multiply this by a factor of 2, with independantly, uncontrolled wobbly skis..
Generally speaking I find it takes people half as long to be controlled on a board..

KarlSki - your saying skiing is more demanding than snowboarding haha You've obviously never tried or you have , and when you did you went in knowing that it's urgh boarding . It's harder to board on a dry slope than ski .

Part 4
I really luv the whole skier snowboarder thing! You can get some really creative energy flowing with skiers and boarders mixing it up, I've found though that in pow the difference between the two is less marked, this is the best terrain for a board, until you reach the flat and run out of steam! I dont claim to know everything about what goes on in the park, freestyle has always struck me as a young kids thing, but the skiers always seem to go higher and put in more to their moves
