brillent vid man! i bought one of these for about 15 euros and it is probally one of the best bits of kit ive ever bought! these is going in my favorites! 5*

Hey there! Good vid. This is essential kit for me, have had the same one for years.
One thing I do though is keep the meths in a proper trangia bottle and the burner seperate from the pot. That way you don't get that meths taste off your food.
Your demonstation was top class and to the point, well done!

If you put the tip of the hook through the eyelet on the front of the large pot, you can then use the bail to pour with. For a video demo of this useful trick, do a google search for 'Swedish trangia hook trick'.

I actually don't use the trangia alcohol stove that came with mine. Instead I use the gelled alcohol burners made by the Swiss Army which is meant for the Swiss Volcano Stove. They're cheap and burn for 6-8 hours. It's like sterno but better.

The universal pot handle is a stroke of genius! I use mine with the slightly smaller civilian burner so I can fit a spork, firesteel and kuksa cup inside. The kuksa cup I have I bought from ebay for a few quid its specifically designed to fit inside the large pan, and is made of olive plastic rather than wood. A must if you want a hot drink along side your meal. Thanks for the tips!

No the army burner will not fit the triangle pot stand.

Any idea if the army-model will fit in the triangle-stand? Or what diametre the reservoir has near the bottom? I got an army-burner for 6€, and thought it a good deal, but now the steel kit that came with it is kinda heavy.

One thing you can do is cook two things at one time. Ive cooked rice in the lower pot and there is so much heat with the top pot that you can cook a meat in the top pot at the same time. This makes it easy to make a full dinner without part of it getting cold while you cook the rest of your dinner.

@wildernesseducation PS never put a light out with cap on that way, only upside down. Because the rubber ring, wich keeps cap sealed, will burn off that way. Trust me, im an army guy. :D

Simple and "bullet proof" stove. All you need is some kind or ethanol and usually barbecue grill liquid works pretty well and is cheap too.

Nice video and great stove. If you want to see how to make it go faster the look at my "how to make an army trangia faster" video. Keep the reviews coming.

"keep it stupid simple" haha
Anyway great video
I have the army burner and the diameter of the burner ring is the same as the commercial versions that i have seen and the spare parts like the simmer ring and replacment O rings all fitted perfectly. The diamiter of the burner base is larger that some commercial versions. The best thing to is to take the burner to the camping shop when you go to buy spares or a simmer ring and check if it is the correct size. I have had no problems

what fuels can be used ???

Methelated spirits, methanol or ethanol any 100% alcohol. In an emergency you could use thiners or petrol but it will smoke and cover your pots on soot

Great video thanks for the useful advice. Is it worth putting anything under the burner to avoid scorching?
TechnoEngineer 3 years ago
the action of the alcohol evoporating inside the burner keep the base quite cool you don't need to put anything under it. the only scorching problem i have had is my fingers on the heat shield lol that is why i got universal pot handels

I just boughtone of the 'bay. Postage more than the price of the Trangia.
Basically I was curious about it's effeciency compared to the Trangia 27, which I also have.
I think the army Trangia burner is larger than the civvy T27 burner. I would need a simmer ring.
Now, I don't know if you can buy one.
Maybe I should cut down a drink can?
