Islam was created centuries ago, and mainstream Islam is a lot more peaceful than the proclaimed radicals you see on the evening news. Hubbard started Scientology because his books weren't selling and he needed money. An approximation of a phrase directly quoted from him.

$ci isn't a religion, it's a pyramid scheme. You pay to get in, you pay to take the bullshit courses. You pay 'til you're broke.

I just told you why we focus on Lisa McPherson, she's something of a rallying cry. Her death was a gruesome, high-profile incident that the average layman has likely already heard about. We use her case to direct the curious to sites chronicling other $ci-related deaths.
