John Boehner is a piece of garbage. It is astonishing to me that he was reelected by his constituency, which should seriously consider canning John Boehner in the midterm elections for his numerous subversions of the democratic process and his insistence on holding the interests of the American electorate hostage to special interests.

yeah, I'm starting to see "freedom of choice" to be a subterfuge. In the U.S. we have hundreds of flavors of icecream but only two in terms of a president or congressman. There is fewer and fewer differences between Dem and Repub. they essentially play for the same team...only varying in degrees. Abroad, folks dont "hate us for our freedom" they hate us for what we do...assassinating and slandering elected leaders etc.

    You're fucking retarded.

    Lookup "Republic" in Webster.

Afterwards, throw yourself off a building.

It is a democratic republic, genius. Hence you democratically elect representatives. I suggest if you want to argue semantics, you use words properly.

the worst part is that because democracy is blocked by money and not by a visible strongman or dictator the elite can say: well you voted for so and so...so you have yourself to blame. Throw in the two party system and separation of powers and federalism and you start to see the whole political apparatus is designed to prevent democracy. Even if people voted for a real president he would be powerless against the House and Senate and life tenured Supreme Court justices

    Spot on.

That's why all the last Presidents have been extremely rich. They obviously don't need the job, but they want the power....and that's the kind of person the people elect.

Of course there are choices and we allow any capable person to candidate for President, but the Media blocks them all out. You have to be super rich to buy the Media or else no one knows you exist...and of course the Media has it's own ideology it openly promotes.

    It's really lose-lose honestly.

this is true. I'm blown away when I read some of the shit that used to come out of Madison's mouth. The founders were adamantly opposed to democracy, what they called the "tyranny of the majority" ...that's why we have elites running the country. They referred to them as "capable" and "responsible" men. By this they meant those of wealth and privledge and property
