  • i have an ambivalence to the low number of views. these bits are some of the funniest moments i've ever seen on film. i like the fact that they are still languishing in obscurity, but it's scary to think that "evloution of dance" and "charlie bit my finger" are the comic touchstones of the day.

cook's career went much the same way as these brilliant comedic segments (hugely unsung until the end).

i wonder who people will be watching 50 yrs from now: peter or dane cook?

  • In my opinion this is the best one of this small series. 'Did you draw lots?' Ah dear. Cant believe this genius (for he truly was one) has been gone nigh on 15 years. I thoroughly recommend 'Tragically I was an only twin'. A book edited by William Cook (no relation as far as im aware) which has pretty much all material Cook ever performed. Must be the best 8 quid I've ever spent.

  • "Its hardly a gypsy woman with a tear."

  • loved this one

  • I must concur with makeitadoubleyeah, " Tragically I was an only twin" the William Cook book is superb.

  • I came across these broadcasts on BBC2 years ago - at midnight more or less, during Christmas circa 1993, I'm so glad they've been put on YouTube; it really takes me back.

Peter Cook was such a fantastic wit, but spare a thought for old Ludo Kennedy too, who added so much to these little sketches. His deadpan expressions and timing are comparable to Humphrey Lyttleton on "I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue". How he kept his face straight I'll never know!

  • Life is absurd and Peter Cook revelled in life's absurdities. His comedy involved taking to ridiculous extremes simple ideas.

    He is sadly missed.

This Streeb-Greebling character is one he performed many times throughout his career and it fits him as comfortably as an old slipper.

  • Indeed, well said.
