I would like to see a review on camping/hiking backpacks.

@SuperCoolguy98 Looks like she did pretty well to me

As a note. I stored one of these on my snowmobile all winter inside a pouch with my multi-tool and flashlight. The firesteel developed 'mold' that ate away at the rod. Still works, but I had not expected the moisture to eat it up the way it did.

Others have already said it but it bears repeating. Hold the striker firm and pull the ferro rod away from the striker. Don't bare down so hard. That ferro rod you used should have sent maya dust up in flames the very first strike if used correctly and if the dust wasn't moist.

So embarassing, I have one of those models and I will be damned if I can light a fire with it. I tried it on dry leaves, old mans beard which usually goes up well and some other stuff when in the mountains. When I got back I tried it on some newspaper and some bathroom tissue. Couldnt get that to work either.

Rudolf, you can light my fire any time you want. But be very gentle with the striker.

@peaksurvival your supposed to strike faster and not with as much pressure...the way you do it is just wasting the fire steel because your just grinding in off

@RIPPER95D Hi,You worded your comment better than my sarcastic one!

@TheCarbonSnake If you push hard down on the striker, you can easily use too much force causing your hand/ferro rod to go into your tinder and throw it all over. If you keep the striker stationary and pull the ferro rod away from the tinder, you don't risk messing up your tinder pile with a stroke that is too forceful. In summary, don't move the striker, move the rod.
