These projected glass slides much like modern overhead projectors. From the 1550's until the mid-twentieth century they were powered by whale-oil, alcohol, electric arc lamps, and tungsten bulbs. Watch as we fire up a sparking electric arc lamp and project lantern slides of a G.E. prototype electric car presented to company executives before 1950. See other older models, explained by Thurston Sack and with technical support by Steve Normandin.

  • Thanks for explaining these. Good video.

  • WOW...you guys somehow managed to make Magic Lantern projectors seem incredibly boring....that"s quite an accomplishment. Honestly, I wouldn't have thought it could be done. Booooo

  • I noticed something wasn't quite right with that first lantern... what was being worked on?

  • Beautiful video my friend... and great comparison... I plan to acquire one of these in the near future and make a few videos covering antique slides....

    5 stars! :))

  • Great Presentation!
